First Taste was one of the 6 finalists in the ITV Central Region Jubilee Peoples Millions Competition with our VOYAGE (Valueing of Youth and Age) Project and that although the Project was unsuccessful an application to the National Lottery's Reaching Communities Programme we are continuing negotiations with the local school so as to continue the project.

First Taste was successful in attracting new funding from Sainsburys Headley Trust for a major three year project called PACT (Practical Action for Carer Training). This commenced Easter 2010.

The Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mr. William Tucker, presented First Taste with The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2009 at their annual conference on Friday 10th. July 2009.

Tansley House Care Home received a group award from NIACE (The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education ) 2009. They participated for 2 years in the First Taste TOPIC project.

On 23rd March 2009 and at the invitation of DIUS (Dept. for Innovation, Universities & Skills) TOPIC’s Programme Manager Andrea –Walker LCGI attended the launch of The Government’s White Paper, The Learning Revolution.
On behalf of First Taste Charity Andrea signed The Pledge: thereby to become committed ambassadors for informal learning. As the charity ‘s aim is to take stimulating arts education into care/nursing homes & settings we intend to continue finding new ways of getting more people involved in the education of Frail, Older People in Care.
